village of pommard
Pommard is a name respected by connoisseurs of red wine the world over. This pretty village is situated 3 km directly south of Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wine and 6kms north of Meursault.
It is easily recognised by the square bell tower of its 18th century church. On the hills that surround Pommard the vineyards dominate the landscape. Wine lovers will enjoy visiting the wide selection of local Domaines with over 25 Premiers Crus and many more village appellations to taste. Pommard’s boulangerie and epicerie are just around the corner from the apartments as are the local café and restaurant.
   
 The beautiful Chateau de Pommard which sits adjacent to Résidence Le Clos de Pommard, has recently undergone extensive refurbishment. It is open daily for tours of its vineyards, historic wine cellars and degustations of its own well renowned wine production.
Nearby Beaune is the pride of the region and a very popular centre for exploring Burgundy. The medieval town with its narrow lanes and quiet courtyards is well preserved within the 15th century ramparts. There are more than 50 restaurants within the town and on Saturday mornings it bustles with the large farmers’ market and antique stalls.
Beaune is well situated at the junction of the A6 autoroute linking Paris to Lyon and the A31 / A36 connecting north to Calais and east into Switzerland.
 
The TGV runs from Beaune to Paris centre or Charles de Gaulle Airport and on to Lille twice a day (approx. journey time 2hr) connecting to London via Eurostar. Connections can also be made more frequently from Beaune on the local service via Dijon.
